Linwood Spiritual Retreat
Perched above the Hudson River in Rhinebeck, Linwood is imagined as a retreat shaped as much by atmosphere as by architecture. Sweeping views, mature trees, historic buildings, and open meadows come together in a composition that feels at once cultivated and elemental. The vision is to create a place where landscape, light, and proportion define the experience: rooms that open gently to the river, paths that move through gardens and orchard, and a sequence of spaces for hospitality, wellness, culture, and quiet reflection that feel embedded in the land rather than imposed upon it.
The project is guided by a sense of restraint and permanence. Existing structures are reimagined through adaptive reuse, while new interventions are conceived with deference to the site’s scale, history, and natural beauty. Materiality is warm and tactile, the architecture calm and deliberate, and the relationship between indoors and out intentionally seamless. More than a destination, Linwood is envisioned as a refuge — one that honors the legacy of the property while offering a distinctly contemporary expression of Hudson Valley living.
